i thought bio stayed the same too... @_@
nop!, according to Acmilan's Raw marks, it dosen't stay the same, all the sciences usualy get aligned nicely, its just that some get algined nicer than others!

I think the cut-off for Physics in one of the previous years was also around the high 70s/100. I'd imagine that it might be similar for Chem, but there's no way of knowing unless we actually get the raw marks from BOS.

huh? whats the relevance of acmilan's raw marks? what was his raw and aligned mark for biology/sciences?

Acmilan:

Biology - 83/100 raw and 93/100 aligned
Physics - 87/100 raw and 95/100 aligned

http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=55648

These figures suggest that the Band 6 cut-off for Biology was somewhere between 74 and 77/100, while the Band 6 cut-off for Physics was between 72 and 76/100. I'd imagine that the 2004 Band 6 cut-off for Chemistry would also have been around the same.

really rench? becuz withoutaface said he would have got a raw mark of between 75-80 and he ended with a final mark of 85. If we count in some mistakes, lets say he got 70, then according to ur cut offs, he should get ~88 but he didnt.

Maybe his internal mark wasnt very flash??

No, he said his exam mark was 85 - this isn't affected by the internal assessments at all.

Perhaps he was a little overconfident in his estimate of 75-80 raw.

ok, that's good then. i was worrying i wouldn't make band 6 for biology, even though i'm ranked 2nd in the school. (non-selective) hopefully i got at least 83/100 raw. then i'll get at least band 6. thanks for these raw marks.

I think that's likely the case.
These raw marks have been obtained using an FOI application, so they are exact. That said, there's no data for Chem in 2004. Nevertheless, I think that the aligning of Chem would be similar to that of Physics and Bio but I can't be sure.

Surely Chemistry would align more than Physics, since Chemistry is approximately 3 million times more difficult.

relax people you havent even done the exam, wait till you gauge its difficulty before you go estimating how much you need to scale...aim for 100%...i'm not saying all of us wil get 100% but why aim for anything less...

good luck to all of you

Yea, that's pretty much how I'm going along. There's little point "aiming" for a certain mark and expecting yourself to get that mark...it's ok to have a target or a goal for that subject though. All this is just speculation...it's just human curiosity :)

chem is not necessarily harder than phys.it just depends on the person

i agree. i found chem much more enjoyable (and easier) than physics.
