S- social influences- combination or cultural, moral and itellectual forces.
-within each society, there is a set of attitudes, beliefs and morals that are shared by the majority
EG: laws regarding discrimination
Alcohol consumption and domesic violence
Anti dicrimination act 1977 (nsw)

C- Cultural influences- Religion and tradition play an important role... - -Aust essentially influenced by brittish law
EG: The Consumption Act 1900
Freedom of religion

E -Economic infulences- due to value that embody the system of trade b/w individuals in society and other nations.
-Laws protect consumers from unfair trade practices.
-The income taz system re-distributes income to needy members of society
EG: work place relations

M -Moral influences- Morals essentially come from what constitutes right and wrong.
- As morality changes, so should the law
EG: de facto relationships act 1984
Children and young persons care and protection act 1998

P-Political influences- the law reflects political values of a scoitey.
-Lobbying/ politicians have a strong influence.
-they want to gain votes.
-The philosophy of a party can also have an influence...
-Democracy is central to our political influence
EG: refugee act
terrorist legislation

a state sovereignty is one which makes its own laws is dependant of all influences from outside. therefore none of its decisions can be changed by any other sovereign.

therefore if a decision does coem from the ICJ no sovereign has to enforce the decision.
