A way out.... (2 Viewers)

HI everyone, as the subject says I'm looking for a way out... Im currently living in BA Argentina,I work in charge of open and cable tv signals and thinking into move to Australia... I know... it's a bit far but.... I've travelled to Auckland NZ several times and it was in one of the last times that I got in closest contact you could have with a country without actually have been there.... so when I come back I stared to seek for information about it, the easiest but not better way to do it it's over the internet... but after a while you get down because it's not easy to find what I'm looking for, ex... Pictures of the city, not the tourist points!! but the city itself as the people sees it everyday, costumes, culture... what most help me is to read the Aussies on-line newspapers. As far as I know Australia is a country that I admire, You have low levels of corrution and poverty what makes weak a country.
Anyway... what I would like it's to raise a family there, I don't have childrens yet but I hope in a few years..... (now I'm 26 and married) and due to I'm nowadays working on a tv station I'm trying to first get a job over there in what I do and then, who knows?, I'll be able to move on.
Anyway, if there's somebody that have something to say that could help me, call it pictures of the city, tell me about the way you live how to get contact to anybody on tv stations or anything related to Australia Ill really appreciate it.
And no matter what if there's something that I could do for anybody just let me know....

Firstly have you already gained a visa to come here? I dont know how easy it is for an argentinian to migrate to australia. But from my experience with relatives wanting to come here (even when its a freaking 1 month holiday) Philip Ruddock is strict as hell.

Seeing that you are only 26, your age appears to be too young to migrate here. From my knowledge, i understand that if you are young, then the only reason they'll let you into the country is if you study here (coz the the government wants revenue from your expenssive uni fees). If you want to come here to find a job, your chances are nil. This is from my experience. So i'd ask the Aus consulate in ur area about your chances. Even if u want to come here for a holiday, because of your age, they will suspect you of overstaying and not returning home, thus they will also not approve.


On the other hand, if you can come here (because Ruddock likes Argentinians?), then maybe u can try finding work with Sydney's Channel 31. They are a small network with different time slots for different languages. Perhaps they have one for argentinians and will take you on. You can always start small and move onto greater things.

But hey i dont know you. So you might be some guy with a huge calibre.

Ok... lets see.... I'll try to answer your questions.... I know there's a lot of paper to do and requirements about migrate over there, the point is that there's a qualification sistem that it's used to get certain kind of people alowed to migrate, one of the most important it's called the "skilled migration" that consist in people that have a certain skills in what the Aussie goverment is interested in.... and of course the age is very important, for example the highest score for age is between the twenties up to twenty nine, another point it's to have more than three years of experience in what would be your skill, studies ( I have a degree in advertaising ) and lenguages (I speek also portuguese).... Looking at all of this I qualify for citizendship... as far as I could reserch and as I've been told at the Australian embassy over here in Argentina. So I asume that wouldnt be a problem at all.... the point is that nowadays I have a good job on a open channel and even so the situation here has become very complicated..., and it becomes hard to let this for an uncertain future job, that's why I'd prefer to get in contact with somebody first and not to go with nothing... I think you'll understand what I'm trying to say don't you?.
Anyway thanks a lot for those who spend some time answering my questions I really appreciatte it.... I hope to continue hearing for you soon.

Most of us just finished the HSC (Finished our eduacation in other words) so we're all students. I do have a part-time job though, i work in a supermarket stacking shelves and shit like that (Classy isnt it )

Hehe and yes rugby's good, i dont go much for soccer but any sport is good in my book we're a very sporting nation as you may already know.

As for Mr Ruddock, he's our immigration minister...you may have heard of him lol

lol yeah we're all young. Im 18 as are mosr people in this forum. Most of us live in NSW as well. If i had to recommend you a state to live in id have to say NSW (that decision might be a little biased though ) Its the largest population wise and has the most going for it, either that or QLD (better climate).

Your best bet is to visit the Australian consulate and ask them all your questions, you'll get better answers there then we can ever give you

As funny as it seems... the woman that attend you in the Australian embassy here in argentina is not Aussie..!! and she actually have never been there, so whatever she could tell me I think would be not better than what any person who is living now in Australia could tell....
So I rather your suggestions....

yup kakko, i can understand why you'd want to migrate here because of all the economic instability in argentina. I imagine with the IMF helping our ur crisis, there's going to be alot of structural unemployment.

With your degree in advertising, can you confirm that it is recognised in australia?
Surely the consulate you went to must have had broshures on australian cities. In my opinion, Sydney would be your dream destination. The weather is probably close to that of argentina. Melbourne used to be better, but I believe the future is in Sydney. But if you were to move here, you should either goto syd or mel.

Sport: We play everything. Although soccer isn't very popular on TV. I dont know if I represent the whole of aus, but I play a bit of soccer once a week. Rugby? I can probably play it, but don't wanna kill myself. Plus it's hard to play rugby with only a few friends. Cricket is not very intenssive, any lazy fart wont get tired, so everyone plays it. Play abit of tennis.

Music: We kneel down to Americans

Transport: Worst than a developing country. RTA should spend less money on advertisements that drink driving is a crime, but rather build some lights along roads that actually provide light.
Traffic jams everywhere and 1 lane is always empty for buses that never come on time. Traffic officers hide at the bottom of hills to catch you when you are at your greatest speed.

Yeah! It's a great place though!

It's really important that you make sure that your qualifications are recognised in Australia. There are many people who are doctors or engineers who come here from overseas and have to work as cleaners or taxi drivers because their degree becomes little more than a pretty piece of paper.

You've been to New Zealand a few times, Australia is very similar, the accents are a little different (though I doubt you would notice). It's also a good thing you can speak (or atleast write in) English.

I'm assuming you don't know anyone in Australia (which is why you're here). There is a pretty big Latin American community in Australia (lots of Argentinians, aswell as people from Chile, Uruguay and Peru, I've noticed). I'm not sure if that's any support or not.

I don't know much about migrating to australia ( i'm desperate for an european union passport!) but you could try and apply for jobs in australia and ask the company to sponser you. That basically gives you citizenship (i think)

sydney is great place to live, but unless you make a lot of money finding a home is an issue unless you want to rent for the rest of your life as property prices are skyrocketing.

ye my parents migrated from croatia in 1994 my mum worked as factory worker specialising in making typewriters my dad was a mechanical engineer fully qialified with 10 years experience,he didi not know english therefore could not find a relevent job in his filed and anyways for some reason the governmnet chose no to recognise the degree
so now my dad busts his ass of working as a carpenter/labourer typical work that you will get as a dumb wog as some australians like to brand you
but he earns almost twice as much as a mechanical engineer does on a weekly basis but the hard work is there

i think sydney would be a perfect choice for a city to migrate,now the property is sky rocketting but in some areas if you choose the west the property is much cehaper than say the east
ill give ya an example now a 2 bdr unit with garage laundry in mascot goes for about 280 - 300K a three bedroom 320 -350

if ur interested in telcommunications telstra isnt bad they offer plenty of jobs or you can always come here have six children and sit on social security for the rest of ur life

Thanks for the information.... anyway, I'm triying to get information before actually decide to go there, but Australia's my best bet you have a very goos economic situation and a beautifull country. So as long as you stay around I'll keep writing in this message board.
I've send a few cv to some locals stations I found on the internet, but I 've found just a few... a asume there's a lot more, so if any of you know they company names it'd be very good.
