that's true, always do your best, if you wanna know and estimate, use SAM(Student Assessment Modeller) to put in the marks you get in your trials and see if you get that UAI.

If 78 is difficult to get, how do people get in the 90's? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
It isn't about aiming so low, it's about getting into what you want.

These are my trial marks i didn't do that well, can i still pull off a 78, coz thats the mark i need 4 uni.

Biology: 58%
Chemistry: 22%
Stand. English: 68%
Business Studies: 69%
Gen. maths: 47%

I did bad, but i really want to get into the course as i cant really see myself doing anything else. I bet i wont get it though, then i dont know what ill do.

Your Chemistry and Maths results are worrying.

If you don't perform significantly better in the HSC, your chances of getting 78 are quite low. I'm sorry to say it, but you need to put in a lot more effort.

Don't aim for 78. Aim for 95. That way, you're obliged to do your utmost best, and guarantee an UAI high enough for the course you want. Otherwise, aiming for the 70s or 60s may make you too confident, and you might end up sitting just below that mark because you didn't think it was necessary to work harder.

Casmira's right. Your UAI is not a measure of your intelligence, but it does depend on your ability to organise yourself and process what you have learned through high school.

Thanks for that. If a improved maths heaps say up to the 60's. would that help a lot. I dont think i can improve chemistry coz its too hard and i just dont get it. Business studies and english i can probably improve a bit will this help at all.

if you can aim for almost all 80s in your subjects then u can be almost guarenteed. jus work during the last 3 weeks because if you dont youll prob regret that u didnt study hard enough, thus might not even get into your course. however there are other alternatives

Cramming during the last few days or weeks of the HSC can only shift your marks by a minimum. It is the long-term effort that determines what UAI you will recieve. If you have been slacking off for two years, three weeks of 20-hours-per-day study won't make a significant difference.

Do your best in the exams. Organise yourself well and get plenty of sleep. Revise well before each exam, but don't work into the midnight hours. I hate to say it but you're likely to need an alternative. Have something else ready if you don't get your target UAI.

I know a guy who got a UAI of 99+ and he does not have much common sense in certain things, he is smart, but if you put something different in front of him, it's like ??? :S . I believe trial marks are important as they do show where you need to improve, but sometimes they are not completely indicative of how well you go in the HSC, or maybe, I don't know.

Do standard English and standard Maths have a significant impact on your UAI, as compared to Advanced?

Also, I know this is a bit off topic, but what about CFS, i know it is not a well-scaled subject, or regarded as an easy subject, as I am ranked first in my class with a mark in the 80-90's, will this bring me down? I also need a UAI in the mid 80's or so.

With your stupid attitude and weird comments I doubt you will ever pass a interview even if you have good marks mate.

78 is not a low mark its a ok mark,

and to the chic that wants to get 78 after srring your trial results I doubt that you will get 78 uai sorry, but every one has been telling me, you add 10 or -10 from your trial and thats the mark you can expect in the hsc,

Im hopeing for 65-75 uai with possible 10 + from uws

and I recieved the following trial marks

IPT - 84%
English - 78%
Maths - 66%
IT - 80%
Business - 65%

you know what if i do the same in the hsc as i did in my trials I will be lucky to get 70 oh well good unis dont even offer the course I want to get into.
