ok well, i was installing antivirus and spyware removal programs for my friend on his computer, he managed to have 1700 threats, 1000 was deleted and 700 was unhealed. After the anti-virus scan completed. I restarted the computer and then a fucken admin login screen popped up. we never made a password or a login in control panel. And im 100% sure its some sort of virus that has set it there. When i leave the password blank(with the user name automatically being 'administrator'). I hit enter and then it says loading personal settings and then start away it says 'log off' and it returns back to the login screen. I really dont want to format the computer, any ideas?

1. Insert Ubuntu CD
2. Install Ubuntu

yes this will format
See the part where they say they don't want to format? Your solution goes against this. GTFO.

Log on using safe-mode with networking if you haven't got http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php that.

Install/run let it scan, and then reboot.

Boot up in safe-mode again and try another one and see if there are any left overs. If so, post the log up here so we know what we're dealing with.

Also, tell your friend to stop downloading porn.

In the future, inform him that prevention is always better than a cure...he needs to stop downloading porn.

lol obviously it is spyware that is not letting you log on, if it does not let you in safe mode you are going to have to format.

Yeah, theres a program you can download, and get a friend to burn it onto a CD, then insert it when u reach the login screen - and it will let u in.

After that, burn everything u want to keep onto DVDs and install Ubuntu hahaha. Fuck MS, so sick of it.

Only use it due to game support. But otherwise i'd use linux

If you're totally sick of MS; don't use it. Simple. If you use it regardless the reason, don't complain about it.

yeah the only reason i use window's is cos of itunes, I was thinking of dual booting XP and ubuntu on my new wind i got yesterday, but i might wait a while.

the main reason i suggested ubuntu though is cos you can import all your windows files during set up

Yeah, If u put everything onto DVDs, you will find theres really not THAT much stuff you have. I rekon 2 or 3 DVDs MAX.

It will run really nice when you put them back on, then its just a matter of updating, drivers, and copying all your stuff back on.

Some tutorials on google, might help you get it right
