I go to a school that ranked very well in last years HSC (second in the Sutherland Shire). This year I am going a little above average in all my classes, but I have chosen subjects that generally get scaled down but Im hoping my smart class mates will assist me in getting a respectable UAI (mind you I'm not relying on them).

These are my rankings and percentages so far.

Standard English (80%, 22/88)
General Maths (59%, (74/86)
Business Studies (84%, 8/26)
Information Process Technology (90%,1/19)
Modern History (80%, 8/22)
Studies of Religion (90%, 2/28)

My marks are all over the place along with my rankings. Im very worried about my Maths marks and that is something iw ill have to improve on.

Judging from those marks am I on my way to a UAI of 80+?

It's very hard to tell from these marks since they're not in the form of a trial exam. Rank wise, apart from Maths, you look set for 80+. I wouldn't want to say any more without trial exam marks though.

Ok thanks, I understand you can't really judge so early in the year.

Im new to the foum, hopefully I don't sound stupid...

I would say you are on the right track... only the best 10units are calculated. So, maths wont make much of a big difference...

But I wouldn't hope for much higher then a UAI of 80 at the moment. I'd say you're on the track to getting a UAI of Probably around 72-82. If those marks remain consistent.
(what school do you go to? how many people got band 6s in your subjects? what was the average UAI? what was the highest UAI?)

More data is needed to determine an accurate estimation; those marks could mean you're on the track to getting 90 uai or 70... depends on your schools candidature and the difficulty of the internal assesment.

(Sorry... poor grammar)...

I go to St John Bosco College in Engadine. I can't answer teh another questions though because Im honestly not sure. All I know is our school went very well compared to the state and was only second to a selective school in our region.

yep that would be about right

but i think there is more people doing general maths than that, probably close to 100. COnsidering that there is only 1 2 unit maths class, and 2 adv english classes

Here are some stats about the results last year, they might help.

- 86% of subjects were above teh state average.
- 17 students recieved a UAI of 90 or above.
- 36 students recieved a total of 67 merits.

Oh definately... I think you will definately be in reach of a UAI of 80+;

To be honest, it depends though.

Because keeping ranks up is harder towards the end of the year. Everyone puts in more work, and so to maintain those ranks (or improve them) you need to also put in the extra effort.

With those ranks though you will probably land in the 80-86 range; depending on effort.

Good Luck!
