Answering Qs in Biology (1 Viewer)

When you answer questions in science related subjects, my teacher has told me to use dot points, as it is the most effiecent and beneficial. I am wondering if thats the case, and is that how you answer your questions?

Answering dot points directly is the most efficent way to study for biology - i'm not sure about the other sciences as i dont do them but for biology, answering the dot points is the best way to study for it.

What i do is i hand write the notes. however, if you're prone to changing your mind alot and like editing your notes type them up and if possible write them all out at least once. the writing process will help you commit the notes to memory.
All i do is just write the dot point at the top of the page and answer the dot point and move on to the next one. Organise them in topics and sub-topics as well.

To really kill bio, write a set of comprehensive notes (when i say comprehensive, i mean answer the dot point in full sentences/paragraphs etc) before revising that and writing another set of notes in actual dot point (so just condense the notes) this process will also help you commit all the content to long term memory.

If you think its alot of work. it is. thats why you have a whole year to do it - dont leave your notes to the last minute; write up each dot point as you cover it in class and do not fall more than one sub-topic behind what you're learning in class. catching up will be hard.

i thought the question was ANSWERING in DOTPOINTS

as in, in the exam, writing ur answer in dotpoints

Dot point is a big NO NO, if you are trying to answer the higher order of question such as "critically anlyse"....

However, you can use dot-point for the majority as long as you give some sort of introduction at first...that's because the dot-point is only really useful if you want to talk about each object at a time...e.g. development of microscope through ages...you will talk about each period in dot-point.

But in the end, you will have to provide conclusion as to how it impacted on the discovery of cell organelles and etc. (if the question is "list the main microscope development and talk about the impacts")

BTW

You can even use diagram, table, you know...there are so many ways in which you can answer. It's absolutely fine for science subject like bio to answer them like that.

if its answering in dot points. DONT DO IT. dot points are only there to help you study and learn the content. and although the questions are based on dot points, it wont be phrased exactly as it is in the syllabus.

You can answer it dot points, but it completely depends on the question. If you're asked to compare/constrast, it's fine to put down dot points. Sometimes if you can't think of how to word an answer, drawing a diagram and using dot points to illustrate your answer is better than trying to write 2 paragraphs of rambling.
