Hey just wondering which is the most effective antivirus software in your opinion? Kaspersky? Norton? Mcafee? Panda? Bitdefender?

I have been using a Mac for 4 years and haven't had even one thing resembling a virus. Perfect bill of health.

I've been using a PC for 8 years, haven't had one virus either. What's your point? :|

I'm sure somewhere, someone would enjoy buying a brand new 1500+ laptop or computer instead of freely downloading a program that can help.

I'd advise you hit up that place.

Agreed.

I used Kaspersky, and it was great, untill they ripped me off. They sold me an invalid license key, claimed it wasn't their fault and tryed to charge me an extra $40 on top of the normal price for a key, for a new one.

Since I switched to Avast!, I haven't had one virus yet. And I kinda like how it talks to you. Lol. I run it on all of my four computers, and not one has got a virus of any kind in the last year.

AVG Free is probably the best 'free' antivirus out there. Quick and easy to use and doesn't slow your comp down as much as other antiviruses (ahem, Norton).

Antivir free/home is excellent.

For a paid one i use Bitdefender (vista version)... not sure if you'd call it paid for though :p

Avast! has done a better job for me than AVG ever did. AVG slows your computer down much more than Avast!, and Avast! has a much larger immunity to viruses.

AVG

But, if you want complete protection (free version of AVG doesn't stop everything) these work well together:

Comodo Firewall
Adaware
Spyware Blaster
Spybot S&D
CCleaner
VundoFix

Ok, I'm just a bit paranoid =]

one of the best posts here :p

Having 2 Ad-ware programs is a bit silly though. Adaware is enough for me personally.

Comodo Firewall Pro (which is ironically free)> Zonealarm free
Spyware blaster is essential for every pc. blocks all the insecurities that spyware uses to infect a pc. both on IE and firefox. (Unfortunately not for opera, but maybe in later versions.)

Not too sure what vundofix i
