i worked 7am-5 pm including a lil speel in seafood for 4 hours OMG people are crazy. The stupid manager put me in there on there busiest day of the year while I had absolutely no idea what to do and the girl who had onklly been in there for 4 weeks cos the cafe closed was telling me that she was better at doing most of the things i had never done before ie wrapping up lobsters damn those things are sharp. + i have cuts all over me cos the prawns are sharp and my gloves were thin

oh well. too bad it wasnt public holiday rate cos i think i deserved it

my boss rang me this morning and cancelled my double and a half shift today and a shift i have tomorrow
apparently someone accidently rocked up to work..so she figured she wud let them stay and just cancel my shift
i didnt really care because i went to movie marathon last night and didnt get home till 5.30...am...and had work at 9..
but i would have gone in just 4 the money
so now im going to cancel my wednesday shift to piss her off
but more so coz im going up the coast...

No.. it was so fucking busy at my work I thought I was going to die. I gave lots of attitude to the customers.. not the greatest idea ever, but fuck!

Well I started my first job last year on the 23 of december at bi-lo and worked 23/24 then we were shut. It was hectic but not too bad.

This year I am at a new job working on a mushroom farm, I work from 9 (or earlier in the morning) until work is done for the day - the record being a mid-night finnish. I work on an 11 days on 3 days off roster.

I worked from the 21 (beginning of my roster) to the 24, we shut on christmas day but I was back on boxing day and will be working till the 1st of jan - though I'm planning on swapping that break and working to the 9th and having 4 days off.

I am employed under an AWA as opposed to an award therefore I recieve no penalties eg overtime or time and a half for sundays and double or more time for public holidays. My rate is $16.35 an hour every-hour that I work.

On the other hand I really don't mind as I will make in a good week more than 700 after tax. Though penalties would certainly help the hip-pocket they would also send the farm to the wall which doesn't help the wallet at all.

Yeah a lot of them want the refund rather than a credit note because they're refunding their kid's presents and don't want to replace them.

Man it was dead today.

The few customers we had were like "What's going on? There's about 10000 people down in the other part of the plaza! - there's about 3 up here!"
Well, I figure people stocked up on groceries before Xmas. I know I won't be buying groceries for another month after Christmas!

We only had 4 people rostered on all day on registers - that's how dead it was. Why were we even open? meh, at least that adds to the pile of money
