Hey guys I'd just like to know what are you thoughts on both Architecture and Engineering, which do you prefer and maybe the pros and cons of each.

Is architecture alot more difficult to engineering because it requires a higher atar?

I know for sure I don't want to do engineering anymore but since many in my family do architecture, I may go for it.

Architects make the buildings look pretty

Civil Engineers make the building stay up

I do Civil Engineering and reckon it's pretty awesome. Architecture has too much emotional touchy feely bullshit. Also all my lecturers hate architects, they bag them out so much lol.

atar is not indicative of the difficulty of the course

You have answered your own question. If you don't want to do Engineering, then why the hell would you do it?

You obviously want to do architecture.

I'm just curious about architecture vs engineering, I won't be doing engineering because I need extension maths which i dropped and doing engineering studies in yr 11 and 12, I've realised engineering isn't for me.

I realise you've probably made your mind up, but you appear to have a few misconceptions. Extension Maths isn't a prerequisite at most, if not all universities; you can still do engineering without extension maths. And, HSC Engineering Studies covers a whole range of streams; you specialise in one, maybe two (but usually related) streams in university, so it's not like you'll be working on a cochlear implant whilst building a bridge. There could be a specific stream you are interested in, and that usually means the other streams which you don't like won't be in that stream.

Also, if you are quite interested in architecture, and your relatives do architecture, you probably already have some good contacts, so make use of them if you do architecture.

i guess your right, but I've been told to do engineering its best to do an extension math bridging course. I know what you mean by engineering covers a range of areas, but overall with the mechanics areas and the materials, i really don't like it, Engineering studies has always been my weakest subject until recently however i topped the class in a task.
Alot of my relatives actually went to places like dubai and qatar to find work

Architecture is not Engineering! It is a bachelor is Design so if you want to become a hardcore engineer don't do architecture, architecture is like arts, it isn't maths and physics intensive, unlike engineering.
Also, a Civil engineer can't possibly complete a project without an architect putting his final emotional touches on it so it looks pretty (if you work as a mining engineer then no need for pretty looks :p )
You can always do Engineering (Civil with Architecture) at UNSW which is a mix of the two professions you are interested in :)
