Ok, i went to accept my offer.

Simple.

But before I've even completed theyre saying "You now have the option of transfering to Architecture/Arts or Architecture/Science."

I know i definately DONT want architecture/science.. or do i?

But i thought I WAS doing architecture arts?

Like im so confused!!

It appears to be the same course...

but this one (Arts/Arch) is 6 years??

But it looks the same??

But they have a different UNSW course code

And i cant actually find Arch/Arts to have its own UAC code.

Is it a combined degree?

Am i confused much? YES!

I mean my uac application says Ive been accepted in: Bachelor of Architecture, B Architecture/ B Arts, B Architecture, B Social Science - Full Time at University Of New South Wales.

So all of a sudden i have the option of choosing to ALSO have a "Combined Degree BArch with additional qualifications"?

Heres what my book says:

The Architecture Dept contains a percentage of open electives which can be replaced by the course in the aditional program, the combined degrees only require:

B Arch/ A Arts: ONE additional session of study to gain the additional qualification of Bachelor of arts

B Arch/ B Social SCience: ONE additional session of study to gain the additional qualification of Bachelor of Social Science.


Did i get more than i asked for?
Or is this just a standard i didnt know about?

Im not accpeting any yet cuz i dont know which i want to do.

I just wanted arch. But if i can get a combined(?) degree for half a year more, well why not?

Help me!!

Have i just overcomplicated a simple issue?

Or is there genuinely a need to be confused.

Hmm i dont think im really seing a point in choosing social science or arts.

zahh, yeah its basically the one course, but you get to pick whether or not you combine

another degree for a semester (or yr?) more could be mad, but as someone mentioned basically your free choice of arch electives(or just general electives) in the arch degree will go towards arts or soc sci.

if you wanna do a language arts might be good. i thinks im just gunna use my electives to submajor in german or photography/film ... ahh, ill decide one day

brogan, you should become an architecture groupie... you just follow hawt people around in a tuxedo like a butler would, and fetch us drinks whilst making occasional witty remarks

edit - btw, i think i did ask about this at unsw open day... if i remember correctly, you wont go into any of the other degree's subjects untill second year earliest (they want you to do the first yr of arch normally)
so it shouldnt be too hard to just say you wanna combine it later down the track if you choose not to now

Ok im slightly confused.

Im still dont fully understand how Uni electives work.

So bear with me.

Say if i choose to combine Arch with arts

I still get to do electives.

Just not the arch electives?

But i still get a full arch degree?

IS there a major difference in the electives i would choose? Or does arts let me access more but theyre simply not so specialised to arch?

With architecture alone you get a certain number of free electives you can choose whatever you want in.

If you combine with arts, you will use these electives to do your Arts subjects, and then make up the difference to complete the arts degree with the extra semester.

Hmm that kindof sux though, i mean i kindof wanted to do some industrial design stuff, or scuplture... but in the end all those elective would jst be something fun to do to waste my time.

hmm, im not sure how flexible they are with ur electives... you only lose 3cp of compulsary FBE electives... but then you lose 39cp worth of open electives which you could potentially use to do more fbe stuff (like industrial design or whatever)

im not sure what the restrictions are with the arts side, just ringz ze uniz tomorrowz.

i think we should invest in a golf buggy for brogan to be the multi-institutional groupie

hmm yeah guys, ive been thinking about sending some of my works in to usyd (like the one posted above) i mean, how could they deny me a place with hawt drawings like that?!

haha, ok ... if usyd accept me on the basis of those drawings, ill seriously give you my spot. UTSex is definately the place to be.

really its not going to make a difference in the end after i do the first 3 years at UTSex i might go and do the last two year bit @ usyd ... cause im still not sure whether to do complete arch or do the masters of urban design and planning. for the first three yrs its basically the same, cept at unsw i think they aren't seperate degrees?
