actually my friend got 98 for 3u and 99 for 4u and he got 99.05 (this is with 2 other band 6 and a E4)

Languages? They are some of the highest scalers. Look at last year, the 4 highest scalers were language, then came 4u, then another 2 languages.

no.. they were chemistry, japanese cont and ext.

all of them scaled better than physics last year.

Yah, their mean scale is high, but that's the mean scaled mark. The mean hsc mark was something like higher, so a 90 in language don't get scaled that well, while physics and chemistry seems to scale the same..

This is based on the 2001 lazseeker btw.

edit : I just ran a quick check

90 HSC mark in japanese continuers gets scaled down to 80, and in beginners get scaled down to 70.

while 90 in chemistry gets scaled to around 90.1, and 90 in extension 2 gets scaled to 95.

woohoo! viva la ext2 maths!

Band6's are much easier these days... it's just the BOS's way of making everyone seem smarter.

and yeah, it's just BOS. I mean, hopefully youre right, and advanced and standard english is scaled the same way

Both Adv and Std are essentially scaled based on AOS marks... and every year Adv student outperform Std by a significant margin at the top, middle and bottom ... and so receive higher scaled marks from UAC.

And BOS doesn't seem to be giving any Std student a band6 anytime soon.
