I feel like I have nothing in common with the major parties and all the arguments they're having are ones where my viewpoint isn't represented at all.

I dont see how a high speed train, investment in science and tech, the push for a sustainable long term economy, a harm minimisation approach to drugs and no internet filter are socialist/hippy policies

The Greens aren't looking to run the country

They are looking to hold sufficient seats to provide a socially progressive voice in parliament which the Gov will have to consider when debating policy

They'll have no power over hardcore economic policy which the ALP and libs should agree on

I have been feeling this way recently. I find it concerning that both parties seem to have become much more socially conservative with the directions they are heading. I find things like the idea of censored internet in a free country frightening/disgusting and both party's stances on things like gay marriage, the treatment of asylum seekers and the ongoing "tough" stances on drugs seem so backward to me.

This has left me in the position of not wanting to vote for either party, regardless of how I feel about the economic policy. Do you feel the same way, or is economic policy alone enough to give you satisfaction in choosing between the two?

Social progressivism is clearly their ideology. As to their position, while its naive to think they'll ever break the two party dominance, they are primarily there to hold the balance of power, keeping the right wing fuckwits in both parties in check.
