The marks weren't outstanding and those subjects look like a group of some of the worst scaling out there so she shouldn't really be complaining about the UAI that got dealt out.

um, first of all, best advice would be just work, work, work...and try to keep your sanity!
I was kinda obsessed with numbers and how it would all work out but in the end it's just about doing your best!! hehe, that sounds so corny!

I got..
mathematics- 92
maths ext1- 41/50
english advanced- 94
eng ext1- 47/50
ancient history- 97
modern history- 88 (not counted)
visual arts- 100

uai= 99.4

Weird how that works out when you compare it to mine. I feel a bit robbed, lol. My fault for picking low scaling subjects I guess. Good job though!

Mine were:
Business Studies - 91
Chemistry - 83
English (Advanced) - 85
Maths - 92
Maths Ext - 38/50
Music - 76 (lol)
Software Design and Development - 90

UAI: 93.80

Although I don't know what you're trying to work out from this information.

Although I suppose the problem is that not everybody has posted in both and there involves a fair bit of crossing checking between the two. It's probably more useful to fiddle with SAM - if at all useful, that is. It's good to have set goals and I agree that in order to set one for UAI you need to know the range of HSC marks required, but I personally wouldn't be concerned about figuring out the specific numbers for another 6 months or so.

Personally I believe in educational integrity so I would advise you against taking any short cuts in your study if you are aiming for exceptional achievements. Everybody has different study methods that work most effectively for them - you must figure out yours, if you haven't already. Do whatever you need to do to make sure that you have developed a thorough understanding of the content of all your subjects and have gone beyond attempts to merely satisfy syllabus requirements.

Work harder on English Advanced - its more important than the others - im sure ill get 20 dickheads telling me about scaling and weighting etc, BUT because of the massive candidature, every little bit better u get makes a massive difference - if ur goal is realistic then english adv will make or break u
