I agree, a lot of scripture were written for different times, some stuff doesn't apply to today's society.
Like i'm pretty sure there's a difference between the old testament and the new testament (i'm not christian so i can't say)

It does sucks that people "selectively obey" it though.
It's like following only certain laws, then disregarding the others because it doesn't matter to them. (Not that religion is a set of rules)
with the selective obeying stuff im not suggesting that people should be obeying every rule, i think its stupid to expect christians to not mix fibres. i think the problem is a whole group of people using scripture written by one person millennium ago as a basis for their moral systems. i personally am not a fan of organized religion, if you find it benefits you thats awesome for you and im geninuely happy for you.

I mean some stuff doesn't really apply to today's society but as chrisitans it's not really about obeying the set rules but looking at the ways that people responded to God's callings, how God spoke to the people and how people lived out the gospel which is what we can use in today's society. Like we should use the rules as not strict boundaries like u have to do everything a certain, exact way but it's more of a guide on how we should shape our conversations, thoughts, actions, etc. Idk
yep I think you put it into words better than me!

Ahh i see! I think I interpreted you wrong. I agree with your thoughts though!

for me I don't really find myself "belonging" to a religion. I just enjoy the teachings and different views of the world each one has.

i still personally have issues with that, im not going to get into this though because in reality religion is very fundamental and important to some peoples lives (pls dont take this as condescending reddit atheist thing btw, i mean this as in its a lot less of a trivial matter than arguments over favourite food and stuff) and arguing will not change anyones opinion or enlighten anyone. there are problems i have with organised religion, but i dont have problems with individuals practising religion (as long as youre happy and not being a cunt)

fair enough. Following a certain religion isn't necessarily for everyone. It just depends on your views and experiences
