not entirely sure...dont other comps go goal difference then head to head the home and away?

ie:

Australia and Iraq 10 points

then: Say Australia and Iraq have a goal difference of 0

Then

Australia and Iraq have 1 game each

then goes to home/away goals...which is 1 goal at home to each of them.

This would be a conundrum - maybe do what they do in Euro this year and have to have a shootout betwee them which would be very hard to do i guess....


any idea waht would happen then?


other alternative is head to head record first, then goal difference, then home/away goals head to head...or something similar anyway....

Always known Emerton was one of if not our best player behind only maybe schwarzer. Good to see him get a few goals, should raise his profile a bit.

I think it goes on goal difference not head to head. Not that the seeding even matters really.

yea they were talking about it today.....in one of the groups if all the results go the right way it ends up as a penalty shootout to determine rather than head to head or goal difference or something like that anyway....i was like WTF!?!

So there is 5 teams in first and 5 in second.

Seeing as though 5 is an odd number, i would imagine it would just a pot again.

Unless the seedings are based on factors outside of just this current group stage.

Seeding
The 10 qualifiers will be drawn into two groups of five teams at the draw in Kuala Lumpur on 27 June 2008. The seeding for the fourth round will be identical to the third round draw, with the qualifiers split into 3 pots of 2 teams, with the bottom 4 ranked nations grouped together in a separate pot. Because Saudi Arabia and Japan are seeded equal 4th, there will be a random draw held to determine which pots they go into. Additionally, if Iraq qualify for the fourth round, they will be designated fifth position in their group, in order to avoid conflicts with the Confederations Cup commitments they have, as a result of their win in the Asian Cup.


Pot 1: Australia and Korea Republic
Pot 2: Iran and Japan/Saudia Arabia
Pot 3: Saudia Arabia/Japan and Bahrain
Pot 4: Uzbekistan, Korea DPR, Iraq/Qatar and UAE/Syria

Each group will include 1 team from each of Pots 1, 2 and 3, and 2 teams from Pot 4.

I would trust the opinion of the commentators who are certainly experts. After all, Ajax would have spent loads of money in figuring out whether he's a good prospect. Their consideration implies that he is indeed an excellent player.

Hardly. Good clubs have shit players all the time. And these same commentators used to laude Viduka, who was the worst player we had on our team at the time. I'd certainly prefer him to Holman right now though. Please have him gone by 2010.

Viduka used to draw 3 defenders to himself alone with his back turned to the goal. Had we had a more potent attack, Viduka probably would have been noticed a lot more.

Having him up there created gaps for our other players to get through. When defenders see brett lolman coming they just laugh.
