I always hated Bio, even way back in Year 7. Learning about plant forms, fauna and other things in Bio bored me to death.

Bio is basically memorising every word in the text book and not applying your brain. In other words its rote learning, like no conceptual thinking like in Maths.

I think bio is interesting when you learn about diseases and the human body. Everything else is boring

If I can't take french, I'll probably just stick with bio , then drop it in yr 12 that way I have all my mathematically inclined subjects and less rote learning.

Assumed Knowledge does not equal Prerequisites. It's preferred to take up Bio, but you don't need to :)

On the enrollment application for french beginners, it says it must be handed in by the 20th or I think the 21st November 2015.

I'm in the same boat as you, Prelim Bio so far is incredibly boring :( I looked through the HSC syllabus for it and some notes and the content seems wayyyyyy more interesting. Personally I don't mind suffering through prelim since Year 11 is three terms anyway.

Haha good to know I am not the only one. Is it end of term 4 we get to drop a subject or before term 4?

You can drop a subject as soon as you hit year 12. (Assuming that you meet the rest of the BOSTE's requirements).

Just so you know, I dropped biology only cause I had enough and wanted to reduce units. In truth, whilst still not having maths, HSC biology is a much more juicy course.

So did you enjoy prelim bio? By juicy you mean more interesting? Because I am planning to drop this subject and take phys,chem,4 unit maths, SOR 1 and adv.english
No. I hated prelim bio.

But the stuff they teach you in HSC bio is much more worth it, i.e. diseases genetics <3
Worst part about HSC bio is just remembering a ton of scientist names.

Your planned courses are basically the same I had for the most of the year (minus SOR1 cause I dropped it)

Also what do you mean by doing french via long distance, does that involve taking it at TAFE or something?
Language courses are done through open high school. I'm assuming it's like distance, where you get sent the work, then you send it back. You don't need to go to TAFE. You do it through the open high school / distance school.

I suggest looking at some year 12 notes. Don't do business, you'll hate that 100% more. Bio tests are much easier than business. It's just short answers (with maybe a big 8 mark short answer) + MC. While business you have 2 long essay/report responses on top of all that. And the content in business is boring.

You don't need bio for med, although I'd think it'd somewhat interest a future med student. Just look at the year 12 notes, it's that simple. Like what you see or don't. But don't swap for business.
