Well I find it strange you think MQ is good. I've graduated a long time ago and have horrible memories of it. When someone asked me some related questions this was my reply:
I've spent 6 years at macq uni and here's what i think about it.
relatively small campus
macq feels really cheap like a poor uni or like TAFE/high school.
poor facilities- not enough computers for everyone, so have to bring laptop all the time.
most of the students feel like shit when they graduate from uni. its called graduate into unemployment.
poor social life- the campus is pretty small and the way the campus is designed its hard to find a comfortable spot to socialise/ sit down and talk. Sure there is the grass area near food court and stuff but its pretty lonely there.
horrible food court-expensive food and terrible food.
There's too many asians at macq. macq has the highest percentage of international students who keep to themselves. unless you want to be with 80-90% international chinese students. macq is like UWS, poor quality students because SIBT(pay your way to get into university) allows it.
im asian too but i don't like the international students there because they only keep to themselves.
the people at MQ mostly have low self esteem because they didn't make it unto usyd/unsw, including the locals.
the commerce courses there are terrible. horrible lecturers/academic staff who don't give a damn when you ask for help.
i don't suggest you to go to macq uni, there's not a single thing i like about it. you could go to campus and ask the older students what they think of it in a unbiased way.
UNSW has the nicest campus overall, really feels rich and modern like a university should be.
If you didn't know, commerce students are the most abundant. Especially at MQ it is the most popular course - Accounting/Finance double degree, everybody does that. Ever heard Arts degree were worthless? Commerce nowadays is in the same boat. About 10 years ago it was kinda okay, but now its trash. Commerce is by far the most popular course at university, so yes everyone struggles to find a job. The ones that think they've gotten something decent when in actual fact they just got a shitty job Connections and directly contacting employers is the only way to find an entry level accounting position. There aren't many that I know that found an accounting job through online applications, all of them got it through friends or by walking hand in resume etc. Truth is accounting is just a pretty girls' career. If you're good looking/well presentable enough you get hired. You learn on the job and get carried by horny men. There is not a single unattractive female working in a accounting graduate program (think big 4 accounting, pwc ernst and young . kpmg etc), That's why the industry is sad.
There's no reason to not major in accounting when doing commerce, doing otherwise is like pointless and a waste of time. So commerce is basically accounting, people aspire to become a qualified accountant CPA/CA etc.

I will make one big post for anyone considering university. Do not be afraid to drop out or change pathways.
