exactly, i hate fixing computers it pisses me off, any time my own computer breaks i rage. but for 34 an hour the uni is paying me, i suddenly love fixing peoples computer

When you talk about "intro masters", I'm assuming getting masters for a major in B Commerce?

Also when you mentioned "WAM"... is that supposed to stand for something? I'm new so I have no idea what you're trying to say!

Well like I've said before, I plan on complementing Economics (something I genuinely enjoy) with Finance (which I should have a taste of in FIN1612).

intro masters is a B Com yes

WAM = Weighted Average Mark - its the average of all the marks you get at uni for the subjects you take

Intro metrics is basically an extension of the regression that you will do in QMB this year. It's compulsory for an Economics major in economics and it helps a lot with understanding some of the macroeconomic concepts.

A BEconomics makes you an hero of the internet, while a BCommerce makes you the laughing stock of anyone with any other degree, including Arts (but probably not Theology).

But if you do want to work as an economist, I would highly recommend courses on statistics (intro metrics and metric methods at least).

Highly untrue, only a small percentage of economics grads will ever use what was taught in metrics, and those that do will be working in extremely specialized positions.

Many however will bore themselves needlessly for 2-3 years with it.

I would highly recommend specialising into a field of economics which you yourself find interesting, notable ones would be game theory, behavioral economics, political economy, math econ etc.

The courses I mentioned are definitely not specialised and only give students some background knowledge on modelling theory and applied metric work. They're also core courses in B Eco (rightly so), but B Comm students can choose not to do them. If there are B Comm students who would like to work as economists, how can they not benefit from a basic understanding of regression models, applied metrics and data diagnostics?
