Hey guys,

I just want to know what kind of job opportunities there are for a graduate of a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Economics double degree.

I am more inclined to pursue a career within the Economics sphere but do not want to be specifically an economist. I somewhat had the impression that Economics degrees are rather specialist and thus the most obvious and limited choice for employment, was to be an economist. True/Not true? Experiences? Does this degree combination offer me opportunities in the banking sector/IB/financial scene too?

Post thoughts?

Thanks!

you can combine law with anything at UNSW (and I think USyd), and at UWS you can do BLaws/BEconomics&Business, and at UTS you can do LLB/BEco too.

Just to kick things off, what do you think an economist would specifically focus on at work? Why do you think this career path is limited in scope?

Well I don't really know actually. That is why I am asking.

All my judgements were based greatly on other people's views, the general consensus being, that the career choices were narrower in comparison to degrees like commerce/finance. As so far in my commerce/law degree, I find a greater interest in Economic subjects in comparison to others.

I don't really know what jobs to expect after graduating from an eco/law degree (if I transfer). All I know is that I like Economics so far- far greater than the rest of my subjects. That's why I just want some input from people who may know more than I do in relation to this degree.
