Does anyone know if there's a law stopping Arnold Schwarzenneger from running for President? (like not having been born in America)

He's got the votes of one of the biggest states and the support of the whole Republican party... President T-800

No. He rejected the offer out of hand. So Obama probably won't approach him at all now (if he was even going to).

To be President you need to have been born in America.

Anyway, many Republicans hate Arnie because he's a moderate.

Don't generalise. They hate him for many other reasons too.

I think the whole filibuster-proof number of 60 is getting far more discussion than it warrants. While, in theory, it's true enough, it doesn't take into account that the US Congress sees individuals far more likely to vote against party lines. It is on a rare issue that all the Democrats will see eye to eye, certainly rarer on an issue so heated the Republicans would like to extensively debate on it. I just don't see Jim Webb and Harry Reid agreeing on enough issues that debate will be sufficiently stifled.

Um, 58 isn't filibuster. Filibuster is 60% which is 60 seats. If you're including Lieberman and Sanders, don't - they're already included in the 58.

Franken will probably win the eventual recount in Minnesota so yeah that'll be 58. Then Stevens will probably lose the Alaska election so there's 59. And there's a 50/50 chance Martin will win the run-off in Georgia, so there's 60.

And they can get filibuster without having 60 sitting Democratic senators. All they need is two Republican senators to cross the table (e.g. Snowe or Spector) and they've got 60. That happens a fair bit, too.

More importantly, though, to get 60, it presumes all the Democrats will vote with their party instead of their conscience. But there's a fair few conservative Democrats in the senate now, and others like Lieberman are war hawks.

Anyway, nothing wrong with being able to pass healthcare reform without filibuster.

Hillary wouldve better beaten McCain!
We told you! You fools. YOU BLEW IT UP>?)P DAMN YOU DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL
I like you Iron, but come on read the comments.

Many intelligent dissections of why Hillary would have done just as well as Obama (but maybe not blown apart McCain, to a higher extent).

And then there's the counter-arguments to that.

Can't we all just get along :(

I prefer bitter.
Ive exhausted all my supplies of hope -the boundless possibilities of change- on Kevin07. It's not a bad government, but the hurt is so deep.
Theyre all liars. Ive been burnt before my fren :(

Haha, looks like Palin hasn't learnt much. That was terrible.

:) The guy to the left of screen is hilarious. Shifty eyes and a little push up onto the ball of his feet.
