I am looking for a casual Job, as my uni is only on for 2 days.
The criteria is -
  • Working during the weekdays (E.g Any combination of Mon, Tues, Wed + Saturday)
  • Decent Pay >$18 (I'm 18 years old)
  • Not a Fast Food outlet - I worked at Mcdonalds for 6-7 months when i was 15/6 and it was terrible.
  • I was considering Cotton On, but I read some truly horrible comments about employment there.... Any advice?
  • Either in South Sydney (Hurstville) or City

Re: Best Causal Job?

From what I have heard Kmart seems like a good option for a casual job. Maybe take a walk around some shopping centres and see what stores are offering casual jobs at the moment.

So far your answer is the most informative, closely followed by escort. What do you know about working at event?

There is huge competition from the whole of Sydney's ethnic community

I don't think it's a wise idea to openly brag about how much money you make as a tutor.

It makes it appear that you're only tutoring for the money, and not for the benefit of your students.

What's wrong with that?

That's a decision/risk he takes himself- if his customers feel that way then they will go elsewhere.

Although that being said, $35/hour is not what I'd consider that expensive for tutoring.

haha, i didn't mean to brag.
but yeah.. great hourly rate and great casual job to fit around my busy university schedule.

I generally only charge $25/hr, but because of groups and the way that I'm currently tutoring my hourly rate is quite high.
I love tutoring - 1) for the great money and great convenience of it and 2) coz i love passing on the knowledge that I learnt from the HSC onto others and seeing them benefit.

And you are your own boss :)

Preparation time gets more efficient with economies of scale too.

And it's cash in hand.

I tutor casually and I must say, it is extremely rewarding when a weaker student who struggles actually understands the content much better by the end of the lesson. The high rate is just a bonus on top. Helps pay for transport and food for uni, instead of having to rely on Youth Allowance.

I think I have a pretty sweet casual job working for the University (~$25 p/hr) with good hours which suit my timetable.

Life is good.
