I'm hoping Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean will be worth it. Sounds like an odd combo, but still ... it is Cornell.

sarah blasko - flame trees (cold chisel? idk)
hanson - in a little while (u2 .. really )
the shins - we looked like silhouettes (the postal service)

and covers/remakes that aren't meant to be serious but are fucking great;
hanson - dirrty (christina aguilera)
ben gibbard - complicated (avril lavigne)
lily allen - nan, you're a window shopper (50 cent)

worst covers;
the white stripes - walking with a ghost (tegan and sara) WORST COVER EVER EVER EVER EWWWW
sarah blasko - don't dream it's over (crowded house) .. i love the blasko, but she absolutely massacred it. fucking terrible. not even her voice can save it.

But as for good ones, all I can think of are Xiu Xiu's covers of Ceremony and Don't Cha
