i never used to know until i got into NIN...and my friend paid me out after i questioned why the fuck NIN would cover a Johnny Cash song

Yeah, I know, but Death (moreso Chuck) just gave it more...balls. It's (apart from Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower) the only cover I've heard that I think is better than the original.

golden years is a 70's song, not 80's.

no kidding. they were one of my favourite bands for years, and i pretty much didn't even consider going to their show earlier this year/later last year/whenever the fuck it was, because i knew it would just suck and make me sad.

"Weird Al" Yankovic is also muh, and his parodies suck horribly. There's little originality to it and I hate his voice; it's ... just bad.
At least make it good, and not ironically self-parodying, like this.
