Hey guys,

Would anyone know any particularly good scenes from any plays that contain the element of blood? I'm trying to steer clear of any Shakespeare plays, as we are covering him later on in the year.
Thanks for any help guys!
Cheers!

umm.. kinda strange request, but I guess there's always greek tragedy
"Oedipus tyranus" or "Antigone" by Sophocles very "bloody" blinding scenes etc.
hmm... is this what you mean?

Yeah the scenes have to have any relation to blood. It can be anything from gory drama to violent scenes, or simply any scene that mentions the aspect of bleeding or blood. Does that make sense?

well for something more recent there is "Parramatta girls" by Alana Valentine
its very recent and was recently performed at The Belvoir st theatre. there is gruesome scene between two women where they're exploring the "freedom" of cutting themselves. and do it on stage... ya some interesting prop work as she cuts herself with a tin can lid (inserted with a little blood pack thing..hehehe)

could have a less literal reference to "blood" as in family bonds etc. Found in "Stolen" by Jane Harrison about the stolen generation in fact there is probably literal "blood" references there also. I saw it in 2005 cant remember exactly.
