FS is a industry group in external audit while Financial Risk Management is a subdivision in risk advisory (i.e. internal audit), so the difference is if you work in risk advisory, you'll be doing alot of internal controls work i.e. interim audit work, like understanding business processes and then writing up walkthroughs and so on. external audit is more focused on the financial statement, so more number crunching and more time at the client site and in FS (i worked there over the summer) u'll work for clients like AMP, UBS etc

oooh...so FS sounds interesting, looks liek ill be applying for that one then.

btw, in ure interview, did u haev the same process as trainee's i.e interview with partner and if so, wat did they kinda ask/look for

mate it really depends on personal preference and you probably won't have a good grasp of what the divisions are like til you work in them, just go with ur instincts.

interview process was just one assessment day, so that consists of 2 interviews (1 manager and 1 partner), psychometric analysis and a group activity. Know the firm well, know the area of you're applying well to (e.g. what is the purpose of an audit, why is it needed), but in general just be urself and be confident and most importantly sell urself (i.e ur strengths) to the firm.

Someone mentioned that there friend got an interview with hlb a while back, but thats it.....and moore stephens west sydney are also sending out interviews

anyways, couple of quick questions.

1. anyone going to deloitte on wed?

2. has anyone not gotten an email from ey, kpmg, lawler, etc. cuz i havent gotten a call, an email of rejection or any sign that they know that im alive. so just wondering if i got forgotten along the line? or did someone just figure i was so much of a waste that im not worthy of rejection email. :rofl: but yeh.. anyone out there?

Hey, yeh I have Deloitte (Sydney) on Wednesday. In regards to KPMG, they called me this morning, I have an interview on Friday. I didnt apply for EY or lawler.

great.. just got a letter lawler.. another rejection --> 3 rejections from 4

maybe someone should make a "you suck" card for me and get all these accounting firms to sign it for me.. :mad1:
