Simple question, but I'm unsure of what the answer is on about...

This is probably just a typo. To get the answer in kilobytes, this is done using:

$\bg_white \frac{Resolution\:\times Bit\:depth}{8\times 1024}$

Going from bits to bytes involves dividing the numerator by 8. Now, going from bytes to kilobytes involves dividing the numerator by 1024, which technically means that 8 is multiplied by 1024, all as follows:

$\bg_white \frac{160\times 160\:\times 24}{8\times 1024}$

$\bg_white =75\:KB$
