the online teaching facility is WITH the lectures. you log online onto web ct, print off the notes. go to your lecture with the printed notes and make more notes if you need or want to. some subjects have the recorded lecture put online in about 1 or 2 days for the same purpose as the lecture tapes in the library.

so yeah the notes they put up are similar but sometimes the lecturer adds more info into the lectures.
