I'm the opposite, I don't like listening to music for maths but instrumental music is fine for some subjects. However I only listen to music when unmotivated as I think it's good to be able to concentrate without it if I can (like you do in tests etc.).

If it is on soft and it's relaxing music (John Mayer, The Kooks even) then yes. Never for any essay, English or heavily driven content course though. However, for Mathematics especially it's relaxing to listen to a bit of music-sometimes I listen when I'm making summary notes for Science. I find it helpful.

Answer to OP: YES! I have to have music blasting through my ears to study or I need to be playing pokemon, watching tv or something else.

I usually don't, but when I do, only when I'm doing maths, on the laptop. I don't like plugging things into my ears. lol. ._______.
