So (just for an example) if I studied Emily Dickinson for English Adv. would I be able to do an essay on "the personification of death" (which Emily Dickinson explores in some of her poems) or would I somehow have to also relate this topic back to belonging in order for it to be an extension of the knowledge in English advanced?

In other words, can you go off on a tangent with a concept from a studied text or do you have to directly relate it back to the syllabus module somehow (whether it be comparing texts within genres, belonging, crime fiction, etc)?

I think some people were discussing this in another thread: the MW is an extension of the concepts in adv. and ee1 rather than a direct application.

So I'd say yes, you could...but could you? I don't know, it seems alright.

Is it meant to link with the preliminary course or the current HSC course?

THis is the problematic part of ext II: that an original and personal work is tainted by having to have some relation to adv and ext 1, which is mostly crap (excluding adv. modules one and two).
