dont goto the gym. u guys should all do jujutsu! u lift ppl instead of weights? sparring gives u cardio. and u learn a skill to defend urself! think about it.

and grizzly, if a non actuary joins assoc its a lifetime membership so each yr they can come to the free bbqs. u'd get ur 10 bux back juz from that really... u can come the our annual ball. its heavily subsidised by sponsors. tickets usually 50 bux for 3 course meal at 4 star hotel. as for soccer and bball competition again unsw u need certain amount of acst ppl on field. so u can still play. our mixed pool comp is strictly actuaries only. we have also career events. may not be so much of interest to u if ur not lookn for actuarial job....prolly juz the free food there. last yr we paid 11 bux a head to cover food for each person who came..

we do alot of stuff...alot more than most societies. im not persuading any1 to join btw if they arent actuarial students. but if ur an actuarial student u should really join.
mala, so assoc gets much industry attention..so even if ur not an acst'er it should be good because the firms will seek a non-acst roles in their firm ?

i'd join flyin' soccer teammmmm...wer'e talking baout indoor socer aye ? :D:D

how much is it to join the gym? would it be cheaper for a lazy ass like myself to just pay when i decide to care about my health? (which might be once a semester.... for two minutes....)

i wanted to join netball... but i didnt...
the gym is about $160 for six months. casual visits are $7 (i think) for students. i got a 3 month membership just to see if i would use it and i do so im going to get a six month membership. the membership also includes all the classes and they do a program for you too and explain all the equipment, the staff are all very nice too. when the gym closed over christmas i went to fitness first and they wanted $18 for a casual visit (!)

the actuarial society sounds cool, we've got this lame IT Society that gives out free glowsticks when you join (wtf?!) i wanted to start hackers at macquarie (HAM) but everyone would rather play cs :p

oh no ur kicking out sam, nathan, aniket etc?
im telling them!
then next yr its gonna b like flyn's original team without flyn. and flyn by himself team.
of course not! they're half the team. we were really short of a defensive midfielder and a midfield playermaker. then we'd have a team. we got the furtherest out of all the teams which just fielded all actuaries.

yeah you have to pay, you get discounted rates though, for example you get $5 off squash court hire.

i have a great organisation skill

influence: 20
tackling: 15
heading:3

note: i'm more of a ground player than aerial player, hence why i'm more of a defensive mid than a centre back :p

hahaa, actually we don't play centre-backs... and in indoors we don't care about worry about long balls

im more interested in:
acceleration
pace
stamina (a must-have in indoor)
strength
anticipation
teamwork (the other-other must-have in indoor)
workrate (the other must-have in indoor)
passing

also, creativity and flair are more than welcome...
and what about injury-proneness? =p don't want someone who damages an cruciate in the first game..

tackling isn't bad...

so the scouts haven't uncovered those other stats? =p

we may give you a trial, and then offer you a contract if you are up to the standards of the foreign imports (we have a quota).. how about that?

i fink flyns team is there for fun..not really to win..
if u wanna win u;d join love united, but they wouldnt want u =p

flyn's team wins games by relying on other team scoring own goals
lol
not to dis them coz they're my fwends. but that really happened..
in 1 of the games this yr opponent keeper cleared balll which bounced off back of flyn's team guy's head, over keeper and into goal. that was pure unsw unconess.

who cares about winning - the prize money/prizes were a joke!!! if there was just more incentive =p

anyways, my team relies on the other team scoring (not one but) two goals... so much skill - we psyched the other team into scoring two own goals in a 20 minute game.. and it was those two goals that got us pass the group stage. =D
