NOLS/Unity are, for all intents and purposes, the same bloody faction. The Libs are weak on campus, and continue to alienate students - ironically, just like the Trots.
ISA continues to grow every day. More students are expressing their interest in what we do, and our support base continues to grow at an incredibly fast rate. Since the few weeks from our official launch, we can already claim members beyond the University of Sydney.
I'll be one of the first to admit that last year's SRC campaign was a major mistake, but you're forgetting our highly successfuly Union campaigns earlier that year, where we got two of the six spots on offer, because our policies appealed to students. This is what we have to work on for SRC this year, providing policies which are both consistent with our ideological position, and appealing to students. This will come through a focus on what unites our faction, economic policy (eg privatisation of union buildings, cutting down and/or itemising fees), and through saying that we'll cut useless services across the board, rather than singling out any of the queer space, women's room, global solidarity collective, etc.
ISA will crash and burn, because when you try to please everyone, noone is happy. I mean, yes everyone agrees that a more efficient Union and SRC are desirable, but I can assure you that the left and right will have completely different ideas on how to acheive this, and you'll find this is the case with almost every other issue you come across, except perhaps for making shiny new student cards, and that alone is not going to win elections. So how many members does ISA have now Andrew? Or don't you want to release the number because when you say incredibly fast rate you mean the number increased from five to ten?
