I received my results, like all of you through the week, and i have to say I was pleased. A UAI of 97.6, and 7 units worth of band 6/E4.

I worked fucking hard for this result, and I'm proud of what i achieved. Most people I know understand this, and their congratulations are warmly received by me. My family, especially, has been so supportive.

However, at a school like mine, a UAI under 99 isn't particularly impressive. I don't even qualify for the 'high achievers' assembly early next year. This is not the school's fault, but I have still found it disheartening, as if my effort has been lost in a sea of greater achievements. We had 2 100s this year. How can i compete?

So I'd just like to say a heartfelt congratulations to anyone who might feel like me at all. Even if you scored a UAI of 67, not 97; only you know the effort that you put into that rank. Hey, a UAI of 67 still puts you in the top third of the state. It's nothing to sneeze at.

Your achievement may not be fully realised by all, but I think it's more important that it is realised by yourself. So congratulations to you.

So you’re complaining as you don't get more recognition from your school at yet another award assembly, who cares you, beat 97% of the state and can almost have your pick of university courses that should be reward enough. Congratulations on your result however it was far from average!

Hahhahahahah YEAH LOL average would be 50.00

Fail.
Actually I think its 60-something. However, I was referring specifically to my school, in case you missed that.

Did I fail in any other ways? Should i justify myself to you further?

EDIT: Yes pritnep maybe average was a bad choice of words. Whatever. It was my two cents, so deal with it.

Perhaps you misread the post. It wasn't really about having a cry. It was congratulating others who felt the same way.

I'm happy with my marks.

Well it came across as half congratulations and half a bit of a complaint. Might be 'average' for a top selective\private school but it is by no means for the state.

one of my cousins received a uai of 67.80 and is applying for b nursing @ uws, which is what she always wanted to do. I'm so proud of her
she was really upset at first, but now she's grateful for even passing.

EDIT: I don't know what my point is :/
but anyways, congratulations class of 06 for completing the hsc :)

Case in point. Congrats to her.

And thanks for not being a faggot about this thread.

b35ty, I think that was very nice of you to say. The hsc is kinda like a game that can't just have winners; some people obviously have to 'lose'-even those that try, but your point is-no one should be disheartened with their efforts, and I believe that is very humble of you. Well done
qft.

i agree with broggy.

as long as one ends up in the path (be it a university course or TAFE) that one desires, UAI essentially reduces to irrelevance.

congrats on yur uai.
in australia, success lies in any field u may end up in, as long as u posess other important qualities. so the uai really is just a number.

i happened to get a great uai, but seriously, its not a ticket to success.

I simply structured my response rather than rambling all my points across at once. I'm sorry if I was misinterpreted.

@miss_gtr, thanks. :)

man i was bummed when i didnt get any band 6's, then again when i didnt crack 90. but about 5 mins later i realised i was a twat and id made it into the uni i wanted to go to, and the course i wanted to do. and NOTHING else matters. coming on here and seeing peoples marks in the high 90's i shudder to think about how much effort they put in. either there are ALOT of very very very smart people, or they have worked very very hard. i worked kinda hard, but i chose during my study period not to give up things like socialising or sport. i may have done better, but im glad i did, as i think even if i did get a high 90 it'd be a waste as all i needed was an 89. ALOT of my friends are having to reconsider their options. to the guy who started this thread a few simple questions, how much time and effort did you put into getting that mark? and do you think it was worth it? what do you want to do?

i see it as kinda silly that someone who only wants to do a BSc with a UAI of 75 put sooo much effort into achieving a 99. perhaps thats just silly of me.

B35Ty, once you're in uni, no one is going to give a stuff about what UAI you got, and if you tell people what you got they will think you are up yourself. This is what my Mum, Dad and cousin said (the went to UNSW, UTS and Newcastle). I just got 84.35 and I'm happy with that, because I got into the Economics course I wanted. Once you're at uni, no one cares about high school. You got a fantastic UAI and you should be very proud of your achievvement.

Stop being such a pussy. Do you really want everyone to hold your hand and tell you how special you are because you got a good mark? If you're really obsessed with having your achievements recognised by your school (I'm not sure why you'd ever want to go back anyway..) then you should have studied harder to make the required grade.

To be honest I think the threadstarter just wants to indirectly brag about their UAI. By saying "Oh no, I only got 97 and i was 2 points behind everyone else in my grade boo hoo" i think that you are extending your hand for some sympathy and for people to say "Oh wow, gee I only got 85, what are you atlking about? You're awesome!"

I think you should be thankful for the intelligence that you have and the opportuities that you recieved throughout high school. Think of people like me in rural areas who don't have access to half of the things that you would get at your preppy little selective school and who actually ahve to work hard BY OURSELVES to get a UAI anywhere near 90, let alone 100. Then try having teachers that don't really care and see how you go.

Shut the fuck up and stop complaining over your mark. Perhaps someone who was hoping for a 90 and got a 60 should have posted this thread. Not you.

Says the person who got a 100 UAI lol. Well done.

Nah I can completely empathise with B35Ty. If you go WELL, but not well enough then you get caught in the shadows of the ppl who came first, and you don't think anyone really sees what YOU'VE done. At the UAI afternoon tea two teachers physically pushed my friend and I out of the way so the guy with the top UAI could come through the crowd. Unless you come 1st at out school you don't really exist.

Everyone wants recognition for their efforts-you can't dispute that(and no I don't just mean off teachers-yuuuk). But its all over, we may/may not have got what we want-just b relieved its over
