You knoiw it doesn't really matter, what Uni you come from seriously!~!

Employers, tend to look if your degree qualified + personal attributes,

is all about REPUTATION, stop asking WHY << is common knowledge, do you think students wanna go to UWS? NO!!!!

LOCATION LOCATION WHERES UWS LOCATED? AY?

WHERES UNSW LOCATED AY?

thats rite!!! more demand gozh isn't it COMMON KNOWLEDGE

in other words... its not "out west"
im not being discriminatory but that plays a large part... less people want to travel out "west" to study... people tend to prefer the city and surrounding areas

There is nothing wrong with UNSW's location. Most universities are located in 'out of the way' spots (apart from UTS, really).

Back to the original question...
It has a better reputation largley because it has had the time to build up a reputation.
Its name has something to do with it, too.

IIRC, UNSW has the best commerce faculty in SE Asia

IIRC?
in international something circles?

Well, that may be the case only because the university has had the time to develop its degrees and the reputation of its graduates. UWS has had no such opportunity, as of the current time, anyway.

People choose UNSW over UWS mainly because of its reputation and partly because of its facilities. The uni looks better and attracts people because it seems as though they have more money but i guess thats only a small reason why they choose UNSW.

It might also be the 'success rate' of employment after graduating as well. A lot of politicians come out of unis like USyd than UWS. I don't know the statistics so i'm only assuming.

Even though B Physiotherapy is a USyd course, it seems weird that its taught in Lidcombe.

The Cumberland campus is where all the health science courses are taught.

I think the arguement that "a university is a university" and that "it doesnt matter what uni you came from" is false.
Universities are are different and people from the better universities tend to be more desirable to employers than those not so better.
Its like saying theres no difference between a public school and a high end private school, it makes no sense.

As for unsw and uws, the the cut offs are much lower at uws which of course if due to student demand, and no offense to uws, but i think any idiot would prefer to go to unsw anyday over uws.
And yes i think the cut offs at unsw are higher because the standard is higher as well, if a course that has traditionally had a cut off over say 95, then i think that course is meant to be hard and only for students smart enough to get that high a uai.

- yes, generally they have more qualified lecturers (UNSW that is) that come from a variety of backgrounds including the international arena. though this is not to say that they are necessarily good lecturers, they just have big(ger) names.

- i'm not sure whether they receive more funding, but generally unsw (and usyd and uts and macq U for that matter) spend more funds making sure that the course is really up-to-date and stuff

- and safety is really an issue atm with all uni's, lots of thefts and muggings and other assorted crimes

anyway it's hard to say, whether you should not go to uws just cos it's got a 'bad reputation'. personally, i looked at the course content of each uni for the course i wanted to do, and then made a decision on which one looked more interesting/enjoyable
