Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

If only I remembered to add statistics. :(

Edit: In addition, I reckon 1hr 5 mins was slightly generous. I reckon it could be done properly in about 50 minutes.
You're kidding me == I'm barely finished q3 and its been an hour already

Doubt any of it is right XD

My solutions will say otherwise. ^
He means 2/x by itself.
And Fawun, I do that for every graph. Rough sketch and then put important points in.

Demento, do you mind if I take the posts relating to your test and place them in a thread of their own?

I don't even put points in

I sketch 2/x as if it were 1/x, 1000/x or any number over x and say that it's 2/x

That's fine. It's probably taking too much room in this marathon thread.

Yeah I just do the general shape and then make one point and label it (1,2) or something like that. So the markers know that it belongs to the graph 2/x. I guess you could just write 2/x at the end of the line.

Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

I know that you're suppose to find the intersection points by solving it simultaneously but really?

How the hell am I going to solve y = 2/x and y = x^2 - 4 simultaneously

really

If you read many posts back, I said just to sketch em...

uhhh sub them in together so you get
2/x=x^2-4 and go from there??
I think I misunderstood your question

Relax, you've got 5 minutes. Easy.
fuck you -_-

Also, for question 2 b, is this right for the proofs?

In Triangle BAC and CBD,

Angle BDC = Angle CBA (alternate angles are equal in parallel lines)
BA = DC (given)
BC is common

Therefore, Triangle BAC and CBD are congruent (SAS)

????

Haha, sorry about that. It's not the sides (i indicated that they're parallel). The 2 dots suggest the two angles are equal in the diagram.

BA is parallel to DC... not equal
