Hey just asking. Obviously our rankings in school aren't consistent because of varying results throughout the year, so how exactly how are they finalized for the HSC?

Do they take the average, look at your ranking for your last assessment or something?

Sorry if I'm not making much sense. Feeling shit.

Each assessment task you do has a weighting e.g. 15%.

After each task you receive a mark which is converted (or marked out of) that weighting e.g. a task marked out of 10 that gets 9/10 will be weighted to 13.5/15.

After all the tasks are completed the total weighted marks should equal 100%. All the weighted marks, such as the 13.5 above are added together and then the ranks are calculated. This is why you need to try in all the assessment tasks as they all contribute but also why you need to consider how much each task is worth so more effort should be put into a task worth 30% than one worth 15% if you have to choose one to apply yourself more to at a particular time.

+1

If you've some knowledge of excel, you can use it to work out your final school assessment mark (if you're bothered).
