yeah, you would need a visa, though i *think* don't qote me, that we kinda have a relationship where it's quite easy to get a working visa in the UK

You do require a Visa in most of the cases, but there are some exceptions too where in you can work in UK without a work Visa. For this you require to check with your college authorities to have a better light and some counselors as they can indeed help you to do the needful if required in your case.
