I know, that's why I wasn't stupid enuf 2 trust u so i did my own research...in that case why did Apple only make Ipod 4 xp/2000 users, there's still heaps of Win 98 users out there u know...

Is it making any strange mechanical noises? If it does, the hard disk is probably damaged, and it will need replacing.

Win98 never had USB support to start with. I think its more that iTunes only works on XP/2000, so you must have those for iTunes/iPod to work.
