oooh love poetry.

though what i write seems to end up terribly bleak and abstract.
i love imagery

lost my usb awhile ago that had some of my stuff on it...im so cut, and also freaked out about someone looking over it all :uhoh:

anyone read voiceworks magazine?
I've had a few friends contribute to that.

It's a good magazine.

I dont really know what i was thinking when i wrote thism but how is it?

Pure and Elegant, looking most grand.
An Angel of Beauty, with a dove in hand.
Draped in Silks, and the finest Gold.
Her Eyes might be warm, but her Heart is cold.
For beneath her facade,
A twisted beast.
Where all light Fades,
And Demons Feast.

Couple questions - why the capitals? They aren't really consistent and you've got so many they don't work as emphasis. Also, a lot of the simple images you're using are quite cliched, i.e. 'beauty', 'pure', 'heart', 'light' etc. The best thing to do in poetry is be specific. Not so much that it becomes overtly prosaic but use words that really narrow down on a specific image. Beauty doesn't work because it's too abstract to give a clear image so it's not very strong in conveying meaning. Basically be specific and use interesting and vivid images. The content is clear but it's done in such a way that it's not really that interesting.

In case you can't tell, I do this a lot.

I love writing poetry and stories it is a great way to forget about problems and let your feelings out about depression. It is a good distraction from reality, peace xox

I got to a point towards the end of last year where i found myself really depressed/stressed/unhappy and found it helpful to write poetry as a release.

I got a couple that I'm happy with, but might share them later. However was just curious if anyone else has wrote any poetry?

I had that same situation of being down lots - and writing poetry.

One I quite like even though it isn't true.

A couple of the others are okay. May post later if I feel like it and can find them all again.

I hate my poetry, its really poorly written but here's an extract. This one's about the anticipation of waiting in a hospital...meh.

My heart beats in unison with yours
Though your mind wanders, distant
Alone I wait with baited breath
Dependant on the machine
Wires coil across the floor
And strangely, I am reminded of a snake
I once saw waiting for the kill.

I used to. But I wouldnt call the stuff I write poem exactly, they are more like rhymetic lines of emotive words.

Most of my poems have lots of sadness in them. So I usually keep my poems private.

I write poems. It's quite hard though. It took me few hours to write a decent one (in my point of view).

But where can one publish their own piece of written literature for everyone to see and appreciate for everyone to see on the internet?
