HIV is mostly treated with antiretrovirals. While antiretrovirals are useful for treatings HIV, therer is ongoing debate among the medical society that they weeken the immune system to other diseases which arn't retro viruses. Hence even by looking at:

Acquired from somewhere (source unknown) could be antiretroviral meds
Immune (AIDS attacks the immune system)
Deficiency (your immune system is weakened)
Syndrom

Not entirely true. Antiretrovirals taken when infected with HIV can significantly reduce the chance of it developing into AIDS, but not entirely.
