When it is used as a noun? eg the notion of Belonging is explored in...
not when it is used as a verb i presume? eg he cannot belong to...

belonging is a concept, not a name, so no it doesn't have to have a capital. feel free to underline it or put it in quotation marks if you want to make it obvious in your thesis but the markers are going to know anyway.

yeah in one of my teacher's marking reports it said "students aren't capitalising Belonging when they should"
seems pointless so just checking ay
