Driving in Queensland on L Plates

Hi all ,

Will be going up to qld for holidays, and plan to do some driving to clock up some more hours.

I have a NSW Learners Licence, so does that mean I stick to the 80km/h max on Qld roads???

Thanks

Just like driving with P plates whilst your in QLD on your NSW licence

Qld learners may even have a 80km limit :|

Yes same speed limit for L platers in QLD. They just recently passed a new law that L platers in QLD now have to show L plates, they used to have no plates for learners! how cool is that.

That L plates in cars rule was passed like 1 year ago in QLD was in noosa police station last week and I saw a poster about it...its not really "new"...And I think all L platers should have L's on their cars because their shit drivers usually and people should be aware of this!

If it's good enough for NSW it's good enough for QLD.

And even if it wasn't the worst they could do is pull you over and tell you that you aren't mean to be driving there.

If I were you I'd take the opportunity to go faster than 80 and say you didn't think there was a limit for L platers in QLD.

i copped alot of shit from ppl wen i was on my Ls

with the plate on display, they automatically assumed i'm a shit driver, but in reality i drove b4 i got my license so when i was on my Ls i didnt drive like a learner. People kept misjudging my speed, turning right in front of me, rushing in on the roundabout thinking i'm gonna take 10yrs, rarara

blardy awful i say

ummm.. isnt the rule..

if a Learner gets pulled over, put in a position where normal people would of gotten demerit.. the full licenced person next to the learner gets the blame..

which means.. if you're an L and you speed 4-15km over.. the person next to you gets 3 points demerit? (or whatever the demerit is)

i find that alot too, people overtaking me as soon as theres a double lane, when i'm already doing over the speed limit? I usually drive a bit quicker than the posted speed limit and yet people still drive right up my arse. I think its just the fact that you must do faster than all L platers, regardless of what speed there doing, idiots.

yeah thats the law, but in reality cops give ALOT of leniency to Learners[ to them L plates means Leniency]
if ever you get pulled over, they will most likely give you a warning at worst, at best they will joke with you about how you made a mistake, they arent exactly going to slam your dad with a whoping fine and 3 demmerits just because you forgot to turn the indicator back on when turning.[ they dont do this to normal drivers anyways]
and if every you are in a situation where your supervising instructor gets in shit, its probably because you broke a law where even the dumbest learner would know he did wrong, like speeding 30km over limit, or driving through a blatantly red light or something.

edit: i checked up for you, no speed restrictions on Learners, so have fun with your new found 110 :D

dont rush to that 110....

its a condition of ur licence, not the road laws that u stick to the 80...

so whilst u may get away with going 110, if u speed over the normal speed limit, they then refer this to the nsw infrindgments and then u get taken for doin over the 80 anyway....

i would argue that in actual fact it isnt a "condition" of license, but infact a "restriction", the difference being that the QLD site said you must stick to all conditions listed on your license and a condition is defined as things that u must do while driving e.g for me i must wear spectacles [S under conditions on my license]
for others they must only drive an auto [ i think its A under conditions, not sure]
all other L restrictions would apply though cause in QLD u also have to have supervising driver, display plates and so on, just u should be allowed to do 110.

edit: bah iam a dumbass, you mean if you go over their speed limit, e.g going over 110 then they throw the book at you, refer to NSW laws, and say u were 30+ over

hey dawson, you know she had a crash and totaled her car right?

ironic, me and you when we drive just wing it, go what speed we want, turn left, turn right, change lanes the supposedly shit, reckless and dangerious drivers [ along with black]...and she, the careful driver, runs off the road
