We had our Speech Night yesterday (5/12), and dux got nine prizes, 5 academic, the 'Dux of the School' prize, and some others for being all-round excellent, etc. That is really thrashing ass. She topped all 13 units of hers, most that a dux has ever topped is 9 units, from last year and 2002.

Predicted to pull the big 100, and set for UNSW Medicine.

What about your school duxes?

our dux got 12 prizes. If he gets the highest UAI in our school, he'll get another prize next year making it 13.

our dux isn't announced until after our presentation day as it is based on our UAI's.. how is yours determened..

We have two dux prizes. One for whoever tops the HSC assessments, and one for who tops the HSC exams.

Even thuogh the dux is based on the UAI, the first aggregate (Internal assessment) topped all 4 units of english, 1u religion and chemistry, which is actually a step down from the previous year where he topped accelerated maths and physics in addition.

Yeah in comparison my achievement of dux is somewhat menial. Although not official i topped 8 out of 10 units with 3rd in the other two, by two marks. i get 4 firsts, the advanced english award, perhaps an all rounder, might scratch nine. meh

Do most schools hand out money/vouchers for awards?

advice for people in the future - Don't take maths...
the people taht dropped maths or didn't do maths at all were the happiest ppl
I totally regret doing it
I will be getting 3 awards this wed at presentation day for legal, business and IPT
2nd doesnt get an award
i came 2nd in adv eng
but yeah, i won't get dux
its based on UAI anyway

You cannot generalise, if I could do 10 units of maths and nothing else then I would.

my presentation night is on the 19th. I get an award for coming first in standard eng! lol our dux is only 16 poo to him. hes so damn smart.

Ok... ill go bak to NCAP now!

Oh and Goan_crazy, I agree, Don't generalise. Without maths the HSC would have been really dull for me!

we had our presentation night with graduation ages ago. i was awarded the legal, business, economics and mathematics academic prizes, meritorious academic achievement award, school service medal, honour student medal, principals medal.

dux announced when uais come out. *fingers crossed*

Well done rosepetal, you sound exactly like the dux of my school, but we don't offer legal, so that's the difference. You sound like head prefect or school captain or someone up there too, are you? (just wondering)
