Hi,

I really want to do Law or Economics degree (or together, and pair them up with either Arts or International Relations) at Uni in 2027. I was just wondering if anyone could estimate my chances of getting into any of the following unis with my grades. I got to >90 rank school for context.

I want to apply for Early entry mainly at UTS and ANU, and secondarily at Macquarie and Western Sydney.

These were my Year 11 Grades in Students Online

English Adv: A
Legal Studies: A
Economics: A
Modern History: A
Mathematics Adv: B
Physics: B

Rankings: Top 3 for Eco, Legal and Modern.
English around 20 out of 200
Maths: 60s out of 200
Physics: 20/80

I've dropped from physics to investigating science, and taken History Extension for Year 12.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Hopefully you can contribute.

Your grades should definitely secure you an offer to a law double degree at WSU. The academic requirement under the HSC True Reward scheme is the same for all degree combinations and is as follows:
  • Either an A in any subject or;
  • B or above in any 2 subjects
Your grades clearly exceed that level, and it would be reasonable to suggest that the same applies to MQ. Under the Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Scheme, the bigger challenge in your particular case would likely be meeting the leadership criteria.

It is slightly more difficult to assert whether you would be guaranteed an early offer to a law double degree at either UTS or ANU, although it would be safe to assume that you have a good chance given that you achieved an A in most of your subjects, including the one(s) relevant to the degrees that you are interested in (for example, Legal Studies and Economics). In the case of ANU, part of assessing your application involves calculating a Year 11 selection rank based on your Year 11 results. Once you receive your selection rank, you can compare it to the 97 ATAR requirement mentioned on the Flexible Double Degree - Law (Honours) page. With 4 A's and 2 B's, your selection rank should definitely be in the 90s, so hopefully it will be high enough to secure an early offer from ANU (and UTS!).

I hope this helps! :D

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Just had a small follow up question.

When applying to ANU Early Entry, will you receive your calculated Selection Rank before you choose your prospective courses? Or is the process for calculation AFTER you put in your courses, and we just have to guess or estimate prior.
