Any suggestions? Tried playing The Denial Twist by The White Stripes and it just didn't work on acoustic.

Depends what your into musically wise.

Folk music has some great acoustic stuff. Check out anything by Simon & Garfunkel or James Taylor. If you can't do the picking patterns, just use the chords and make up your own.

Other artists to check out, and most aren't too difficult would be:
-Ben Lee
-Jack Johnson
-Jose Gonzalez (may be hard)
-The Cranberries
-Nickelback
-Pete Murray
-Oasis

I've tried to list reasonably contemporary stuff. A lot of non-mainstream acoustic stuff can be extremely hard to play: Michael Hedges, Andy McKee, Jacques Stotzem, Don Ross etc.

Finally, try looking at the charts from around 2003-04. They had a lot of of acoutic stuff during that period. Examples:
Behind Blue Eyes ~ Limp Bizkit
Here Without You ~ 3 Doors Down
Broken ~ Seether
These Kids ~ Joel Turner

WIthout knowing your taste in music it is hard to go into further detail. This should give you a good start. Also keep in ming that most songs, unless the relay heavily on effects or distortion, can be played quite effectively on an acoustic.

Whats wrong with green day songs? I mean they're good starting songs, you're no fucking Malmsteen.

Basically anything you've heard on commercial radio over the past couple of decades.
