Arty would be a specific fire mission, called down using Company or Battalion level mortars ( I think an AC-130 or a 105mm fire mission would be a BIT extreme). A 40mm grenade into 'Juba's rat hole would come from an M203 or a Mk19 or a Humvee. It wouldn't be from kilometres away, more around 200m (the distance from which Juba seems to be shooting) and yes, if I was in the field I would make the call for Arty if I was sure of his position, if not I would do my best to find it.

I agree that the US are seen as invaders in Iraq, and that they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Now that the deed has been done I think the US has a responsibility, as does Australia, to make up for the original stupid decision to go into Iraq in the first place. Niether side will win but the longer the US are still seen as enemies in Iraq, the more the possibility of a bloody post-withdrawal civil war can be avoided.

i was trying to highlight the fact that your preference of artillery/grenade launching over sniping was a bit contradictory to your pro-life second paragraph.

Random Sniping may be a legitamite tactic but I still hate anyone who uses methods like that, they deserve everthything they eventually get. German snipers in 44' would pick off passing US Infantry until their ammo ran out or they were surrounded. Needless to say they were nearly all shot on sight by angry US troops. I know I would do the same.
