not so much in finance, but i want to combine statistics with software engineering.

And if engineering is so great in unsw why is usyd ranked higher?

UNSW is ranked higher for Engineering.

I can't help too much with the Engineering, because I only did it for 1 semester before I dropped it.

As for the Maths there, it's actually quite good! My favourite part of it is the Special Studies Program (SSP) that lets you do 2nd Year or extra topics during your First Year.

However, I don't really like the fact that they don't record any lectures, and some subjects (Integral and Differential Calculus) don't have posted lecture notes. I don't know what it's like at UNSW.

Out of 10, I would rate the Mathematics programs 8.

-1 for no recorded lectures (though, a good textbook will suffice)
-1 for having some subjects with no lecture notes

but there are awesome course notes you can buy from Kopystop?

Oh yes, I forgot about those. My fault!

However, there is still the issue of the actual lecture itself being recorded. It's not something necessary, but I guess it would aid with revision.

Yeah, I guess so. But then I've found studying from course notes easier (and less time consuming) than from lectures. lol MATH2965, I skipped most of the lectures and tutes and still did well thanks to Kopystop notes

If you're doing Software or Computing, UNSW has the best ranked engineering dept in the southern hemisphere. It is VERY good and worth checking out.

UNSW has a tendency to beat USyd in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Competition in recent years.

So I would have to admit that Software/Computer engineering must be better at UNSW... that or maybe their international asian students are just godly at coding.
