Hi everyone,

Just wondering if we all have the same first English assessment task which involves selecting 3 different texts, linking them, developing a thesis and explaining how they relate to the concept of 'belonging'. I want to include an artwork as one of my 3 texts but don't know what to choose. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

We are yet to even begin starting the year 12 course, let alone doing our first assessment.

Doubt we will all have the same one, however your school must be way infront of mine, we are still working on a definition of belonging in my Adv. class lol..

schools dont have the same assessments, but they are all going to be similar. we have a speech where we have to link our core text with two other texts.

'belonging' should contract a horrible and crippling disease and be in pain and agony for the rest of its life

yeah we have that assesment due in week 7. Ours is a speech, and we have to do the Skrzynecki poems which are ok i guess except that they are all related to migrants so your related text has to be pretty similar to that idea too.

I need a third text for belonging. I'm using Despair and Heat and Dust. I don't want to use the same mediums as before. My assessment is in 4 weeks, but I want to prepare it early.

Can anyone recommend some texts?

im doing Pink Floyd, "the wall" in comparison with peter Skryznekies poem "felix skrisakflasdfas shineski" (whatever, its a viva voce i dont have to spell it).

Any way the thesis point is something along the lines of Institutional belonging interwoven with emotional belonging, questioning whether they are interchangeable or even interdependent.

I thinks is original, but i guess it won't be for long :D

ive already done one assesment task, it was simply a listening task and my next ones not untill next term, i suggest that anybody doing The Scream by Edvard Munch should check out a book called The Island by Armin Greder it has allowed me to link together Peter Skrzynecki add The Scream perfectly and as it is a picture book it gives you alot of options to talk about.

Yeah. I did a speech on this type of assessment. It's about picking a specific aspect of belonging and exploring it in depth.
