ROFL it's alot more than what we cadets get >_> but hey, we're young so it's all good.

What do you guys think of the new industrial relations laws?

I got a letter today from EY telling me I have been put into Mining, Electricty & Utilities. It is not what I wanted, but I will go with the flow...what did other EY cadets score?

That's interesting that you guys got placed.. we were asked which one we wanted to do, and if not, then they'd pick for us...

Well we could also make a preference, but obviously preferences are not always going to work out. For example if everybody wants the one area, which I'm sure was the case.

I see... for us we got interviewed based on where we put our preferences- so people who wanted entertainment/IT were all done on the same day by the same partner... and if you put no pref down, then I think they just randomly assigned you a group based on availability.

(for some reason Edit post isn't working)

Anyway, it's interesting to see the differences between the firms (IMO) =] But I'm still curious what was inside the "gluk" package (as in.. what was physically there~)... KPMG gave out business card holders~

Well I am yet to receive my gluk package, so I am not sure what it contains.

So it's a massager. There I was thinking it was a funnily shaped paperweight.
And Jeff - they interviewed us on the basis of our choices as well - especially in audit and entreprenaurial (sp?) growth - the interview days were divided for financial assurance, business assurance, tax etc.

The division that Meads is talking about is the specialist division within those sub-groups. I think its only tax that has them. Assurance was divided at interview time.

ROFL... btw makes sense. I guess at this stage of the game ppl can (and likely will) move around within the service line.

Isn't the equivilent though like in Assurance/Audit where you can do consumer products, technology or financial services?

ROFL... IIRC don't BDO pride themselves on offering the same quality of service as the Big4, but with the more personal understanding/relationships with clients of a small firm? So in essence that would mean you have to work as hard as big4, and then work a lil' bit harder to be extra nice to 'em =]

we offer better quality services than big4 but focus on medium sized firms

we are advisers to growing businesses

And once those businesses are fully grown, one of the Big4 will take over the advising ;)

and the auditing too!... jkjk.

I actually quite liked BDO- they had really interesting challenges for their group interview.
