omfg, shutupPhanatical said:I come to the SRC table with the same principles. I have my beliefs, which influence the policy I promote. But I am completely open to the ideas of other students, and I will vote on what I believe would benefit students best. At the end of the day, I would like to be the President who could meet with the Greens at 12, Labor at 1 and the Liberals at 2, and feel that I had done my duty in representing the students of each group to the best of my ability - no matter my own political persuasion (which for the record, is probably best described as "Lathamism").
Yeah thats a bit like me and Rose "fuck the VSU, comrades" Jackson. I shouldnt criticise.grk_styl said:pffft I don't care what fontana believes in, I just think he's hot. I'm assuming he's a Lib, and I have no problem with that.
Although phanatical doesn't believe in VSU I don't see how it is a catch 22. Maybe they support it on principle but would still join, or maybe they think they can do a better job of running it in a VSU environment then others can.ujuphleg said:Andrew why are you supporting VSU then? If you support VSU but run for SRC President isn't it a catch 22? How are you going to carry out any of your intended policies without any money?
Perhaps his wish is to, through good financial management and minimisation of services which a large chunk of students don't agree with (eg protests against various government policies), make the SRC a more viable entity which will be cheaper to join (due to limitation to student advocacy services) and more appealing to students, and hence ensure its survival. Personally I will be joining the Union next year, because it provides services that I can see are of benefit to me, but I will not be joining the SRC because it uses most of my money for things I don't agree with, and I'm sure many students feel the same way.ujuphleg said:Andrew why are you supporting VSU then?
